Sapana is 24 years old and has completed some college education studying business. She embroiders all of our items by hand, but has also had a year of training in machine stitching in Kathmandu. She lives in a temporary tin shelter with her mother and sister Rabina, who also embroiders our products. Her father passed away 9 years ago from a sudden illness and her mother has had to find ways to support the family since. She has established a small shop selling snacks and also raises goats. Sapana wishes to spend her knitting earnings to help her sister gain an education and save for a sewing machine to replace the one she owned previously, but which was destroyed in the earthquake. (This has since been replaced by a kind donor). She dreams of having her own home one day and becoming a fashion designer.
