Kailee is 46 years old and has never received an education. She was married at the age of 16 and gave birth to her first child, a daughter, when she was 20. She gave birth to three more children by the time she was 27. All of her children are now married except for her youngest son who is now 17. Her husband works abroad and is gone for long periods of time. About a year ago, doctors diagnosed her with monophobia (the fear of being alone), which has been a challenge for her to deal with. With her income from knitting, Kailee plans to pay for the family’s basic needs and household expenses. She says she is too old for dreams, but would like to become more skilled in knitting.
